6 Indistinguishable Traits Of A Thriving Lawntrepreneur

Feb 19, 2019

What does success look like to you?

Success. We all want it, in one form or another. That's what starting your own enterprise is all about. What looks like success to me may very well be different than what success means to you.

That's a given.

But I will tell you this: in my observation, as different as we all are, every business owner has a set of indistinguishable traits that allow them to thrive and succeed.

Make no mistake about it, being in business for yourself is a challenge. It will require you to act in a different manner, think in a different fashion, and acquire traits and skills that will lead you to your desired results.

Here are 6 indistinguishable traits for a successful Lawntrepreneur:

Confidence

Whether you're inspiring the troops to tackle the day, or presenting to a customer that you have the competency to get the job done, execute everything you do with confidence. Remember, there's a reason they describe markets with the word “confidence”. If you have it, the business world is yours for the taking.

Adaptability

In the 21st century, there will be 2 types of businesses: those that adapt, and those that will be out of business. Business is constantly changing, constantly developing. If someone moves your cheese, don't fuss. Approach each day with flexibility, and remind yourself that there is only one constant in business: change.

Passion

This should hopefully go without saying, but attack each day with enthusiasm and energy that cannot be contained. Nothing significant was ever accomplished without someone first getting passionate about their purpose. You may even do it wrong, but that's better than not doing it at all! Share your passion with others, and watch the blaze of enthusiasm spread like a wildfire.

Life Learner

You can't teach an old dog new tricks. Sounds good on paper, right? Until you realize that you might be writing your business death warrant. If there's any one trait that I would implore you to adopt, it's that of being a student and a life learner. It's been my experience that even after a decade of being in our industry, there is always something to learn. A new approach, a new technique, a new method to the madness. Be passionate about your commitment to learning, and always be a student.

A Positive Attitude

Life comes at you fast. How you handle what comes at you is whether or not it will be a setback, or a setup for a comeback. Look for the good in every situation, even when it's hard to find it. Endless conversation has been dedicated to the topic of having a good attitude. My suggestion - spend time being committed to adopting a positive attitude, and presenting it day in, day out, no matter what the circumstances.

Vision

The sage advice of Henry Ford instantly comes to mind when we think of constructing our future:

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.”

Sounds like a great motivational quip, but I would implore you to adopt the desirable trait of seeing things that others can't. Imagine your future, how you want things to pan out, and then work backwards. Too many folks tolerate what life gives them instead of declaring what they want, and accepting nothing less. If something doesn't fit, don't accept it. Have a vision for where you want things to be, and don't accept anything less.

These are some of my top indistinguishable traits for someone in the pursuit of success. Someone who is thriving to take their business and life to the next level.

Are there more we can add to this list? Sure. But if you start with these, I believe these will give you a foundation to build on, and help you to become a thriving lawntrepreneur in 2019.
